How to upgrade to the latest version of AOMEI Backupper

AOMEI Backupper will be continuously updated, new versions will optimize existing features or add new ones, if you want to experience the new version in time, you can do the version upgrade.

There are two ways to upgrade the software to the latest version, automate upgrade and manually upgrade.


Automate Upgrade

If there is new version released, you may see the pop-up when lanuch the current old version, and you may follow the steps to upgrade.

1. Click the Update Now button.



Tip: If you didn't saw the pop-up when launch the software,  you can also click the three-line button-> Check for Updates to  open the pop-up.



Then, it will automate download the installation package for the latest version  of current edition.

Tip: If it fails to automate download the installation package,  you may  click Download Manually to download the installation package.



3.  If your AOMEI Backupper is still running, here may appear a pop-up say that the program is running, please click OK to exit and install the update.



Then, it will start to install, please wait a moment.



4. After the installation completed, you may click Enjoy Now to launch the latest version.

Then you can see if it is the latest version on the main screen.




Manually Upgrade

You  can also do a Manually Upgrade once the software fails to upgrade automatically.

And you may follow the steps to do

1. Click here to download the installation package of the latest version of  AOMEI Backupper Paid edition. 

Tip: You can also click here to download the installation package of the latest version of  AOMEI Backupper free edition. And you can always download the latest version in this way.


2.  Please click the downloaded installation package to start install. 


  • If the old version of the software is detected during the installation of the new version, please click Yes to uninstall the old version first and then install the new version.



  • For a paid edition, you may click Yes to retain your registration information when uninstalling the old version. In this case, there is no need to register the new version again.



Then it will start to uninstall the old version, please wait a moment.



3. After the uninstallation completing, please click Install Now.

Tip: You may click  the "I agree the agreement"  to view the agreement before installing, next, you may tick this option, besides this, you can also click the Path to change the installation path, otherwise, the software will be installed in C drive by default.



Then it will start to install, please wait a moment.



4. Click Enjoy Now to lanuch the latest version.



When upgrading your version, please be careful to keep your backup settings when uninstalling the old version. Also, if it is a paid version, be careful to retain your registration information.



The problems that existed in the old version have been fixed in the new version. Updating the software to the latest version will keep you informed and up to date with the new features of the software, in addition to avoiding possible bugs.



Q: The installation of AOMEI Backupper may require the system to be restarted but the installation will not continue after the system reboots.

A: You may need to manually delete the registry of the program and then reinstall.

Q:  When reinstalling AOMEI Backupper, the following error occurs: "C:\Windows\System32\amwrtdrv.sys  An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file: DeleteFile Failed; code 5. Access is denied.".

A: You may click the "Ignore" button to skip this file to reinstall.

If the problem persists, please try to thoroughly uninstall the program and reinstall the program. (Delete files in the registry) You can check more instructions here.


Q: Why need to register again when running the portable version of AOMEI Backupper Technician that has been registered already?

A: The possible reason is that another edition of the AOMEI Backupper has been installed in the current system. Two different editions cannot coexist in a system.
