Samsung has produced several high performing SSD drives: 850 EVO Series, 950 PRO Series, 840 Series, 830 Series, 470 Series and so on.
Well, you can simply reinstall the OS onto the new SSD or backup system and restore it later to the SSD, which leave all applications and games running on the old and slow hard drive. But for sure, that’s not the type most users like. In general, people want to clone disk to SSD for these reasons.
Better performance. Samsung SSDs, as one of storage leaders, embedded with many advanced technologies that could bring users wonderful experiences, especially in gaming.
Upgrade old hard drive. Old or slow hard drive may no longer satisfy our demand. Since SSDs have acceptable prices nowadays, it is not a bad choice to replace old failing hard drive with a new SSD.
Better storage arrangement. Many laptop users use SSD for OS and HDD for storage to reasonably take advantage of disk space and properties.

Method 1. Clone hard drive with Samsung Data Migration software
As for Samsung SSD, you can try one utility of Samsung Corp: Samsung's Data Migration (SDM). If not, then you need to download one from the official website. Do not to use this software if the SSD doesn’t produced by Samsung.
In the first place, connect your new SSD to your PC either via SATA (for desktop users) or via the adapter cable (for laptop users). Then, follow these steps.
1. Install and open SDM, it will scan the system for the presence of any connected storage device.
2. Click Start to begin the disk scan and diagnosis step. The rest is to follow the wizard to choose source disk and target disk. If you want to add new partition on the new SSD, try clicking the plus icon in the top right corner.
3. Then click Start. When it’s finished, shut down your system, swap out the old HDD for the new SSD, and boot up (make sure to enable AHCI in BIOS if it’s not already set up).
This method is pretty easy. Nevertheless, according to the feedback from users of this utility, the process sometimes will get stuck at 99% at the verify stage. Sometimes, it gets stuck at the boot screen with no picture there or anything. Or, the Samsung Data Migration does not responding at all.
It is not saying that you would encounter above trouble by sure. But it is better to have plan B in case you are unlucky to meet one of them: HDD to SSD clone software, AOMEI Backupper Standard.
