Need help: How do I use DISM offline repair Windows 10 system image?

“I have a machine running Win10 that was fine. But it would not boot one day. I tried my normal steps (eg: safe mode, system restore, sfc, bootrec) without success.” And then, I tried DISM in the offline mode and failed again. The command I used was:
DISM.exe /Image:d:\ /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth /Source:d:\w10\install.wim /LimitAccess /scratchdir:d:\scratch
I wonder if the syntax is wrong or how to use DISM offline repair Windows 10."

In my opinion, there is a possibility that DISM cannot recognize your source option. You need to mount the ISO you download from website first and then try this command again. See below and follow the detailed steps to use DISM offline repair Windows 10.

How to use DISM offline repair Windows 10?

In general, DISM (short for Deployment Image Servicing and Management) will download necessary files from Windows Update to replace the bad file. But, sometimes, DISM may fail to repair the corrupted image. In this case, you can try DISM command-line with source option.

*Please be careful with the parameters or syntax when you use DISM offline repair your Windows 10 image, otherwise a minor mistake could possibly cause irreversible losses. To fix system problems more simply and securely, it's also suggested to create a system image in Windows 10 for recovery needs.

Before you start

In order to restore the offline image successfully, you need to confirm somethings in the follow.

◆ You need a copy of install.win file from either another computer, a Windows 10 installation media, or the Windows 10 ISO files. It contains all the files DISM may use during the repair process.
◆ The install.wim file must be of the same version, edition as well as language of the operating system you are using.
◆ You need to confirm the location of the install.wim file. The install.wim file is in the source folder of a windows installation media. Sometimes, DISM may tell you a message like “Can’t find source files”. Thus, you’d better mount the file and locate it.
◆ DISM is case sensitive. For example: if you type Install.win as install.wim, DISM will fail.
◆ You need to make sure that the install.wim file is not in read-only mode, or DISM will fail to repair image.
