“I've got this blue screen every time I start up my computer that says: Your PC/Device needs to be repaired. The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information. File: \BCD. Error code: 0xc000000d. You'll need to use recovery tools. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device) contact your PC administrator or PC/Device manufacturer. How can I fix it? I'm using Windows 10 by the way. Thanks!”

2. Fix the issue with Startup Repair

Startup Repair is also a handy feature built into Windows. You can use it to fix some boot problems.

Step 1. Insert the installation media and boot your computer with it.

Step 2. Click Next > Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced options just as in method 1.

  • Normally you can keep the default selection in Step 3 (Create legacy bootable disc). The second option is designed to improve the compatibility of being used on multiple computers with different hardware configurations.

  • A CD-burning program is required if you want to use CD/DVD as bootable media.

4. Perform system backup in case of BCD missing or corruption
