How to access and setup WD My Cloud on Windows 11

Please follow the steps below to setup a My Cloud device using the WD My Cloud software on Windows 11.

Power on and access My Cloud dashboard

  1. Power on and connect the My Cloud device:
  • Connect the device to a network router.
  • Connect the device to an appropriate power source and press the power button if applicable for the make and model of My Cloud being used.
  • Wait for the Power LED to become Solid Blue.
  1. Using a computer that is connected to the same network as the My Cloud device, open a web browser.
  2. Enter the IP address of the My Cloud in your web browser’s address bar or use one of the product URL listed in WD support website to access the My Cloud dashboard and setup process.

  1. Select a language from the “Choose your language” dropdown, and click Next.

  1. Review the End User License Agreement and click I Agree.
  2. Create a New Password for My Cloud and click Next.
  3. Select the time zone from the list and click Next.
  4. To skip the Cloud Access Configuration, click Skip Cloud Access. To configure the remote access, Click Continue.

Tip: If you click Continue, follow the on-screen prompt to create a cloud account.

  1. To opt-in the analytics, click Agree to share. Otherwise click Do not share.
  2. Click Yes to enable Auto Update Firmware or click No to disable it.

  1. Click Finish to login to dashboard.
  2. (Optional) Use the QR Code to download the My Cloud OS 5 mobile app.
  3. The device will start indexing the content when Cloud accounts are created for remote access of content in the web and mobile apps.

Fixed: WD My Cloud not showing on network

Apart from accessing WD My Cloud from the web browser, you can also access it from This PC > Network. However, some users find WD My Cloud not showing on network Windows 11. If you have the same trouble, there are two fixes for your reference.

Fix 1: Add a new credential

Missing credentials can cause this disruption in connection to your Western Digital My Cloud.

  1. Type “credential” in the search box. Next, tap on Credential Manager to access the Credential Manager.
  2. Select Windows Credentials > Add a Windows credential to add a new credential to your system.

  1. Type the IP address or product URL of the My Cloud device and enter user name and password. Click OK to save these changes.

  1. Close the Control Panel screen. Then, restart the computer to test whether you can connect to the WD My Cloud now or not.

Fix 2: Enable the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing protocol

SMB 1.0 File Sharing protocol, though an older file transfer system, can solve this issue if it is enabled.

  1. Press Windows + R keys to access the Run terminal. Then type “optionalfeatures” and hit Enter to access the Windows Features.
  2. Go down through the optional features list and tick SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support. Click OK to proceed further.
