Usually, the partition layout will keep intact after cloning to SSD. To clone a system hard drive, the boot partition including boot.ini, NTLDR, BCD, winload.exe and MBR will be cloned simultaneously.
AOMEI Backupper Standard, the best free disk cloning software for Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP, is embedded with the latest cloning technology and is able to clone a hard drive to another drive in a fast, secure, and easy way. It offers:
✦ HDD/SSD Clone: Support a wide range of hard drives, including HDDs, SATA SSDs, NVMe M.2 SSDs, USB flash drives, and SD cards, etc.
✦ Intelligent Clone: The fastest cloning method since it will only clone the used sector from the source. It is quite useful when cloning large HDD to smaller SSD.
✦ Sector by Sector Clone: This Cloning method will copy every sector from the source to the destination, and it might be helpful in some data recovery cases.
✦ SSD Alignment: Improve SSD’s performance with 4K partition alignment, and prolong its lifespan if you clone to an SSD.
✐ Tips: The free disk clone software AOMEI Backupper Standard only supports cloning system disk from MBR to MBR. If you want to clone a system disk from or to GPT disk, please upgrade to an advanced edition AOMEI Backupper Professional to perform UEFI cloning. It also provides OS migration feature, and you can add unused space to partitions when cloning to a larger SSD.
