Why need restore a drive image in Windows 10?

A drive image is very useful to computer users because they can restore all data with it when you need. And there does have many situations that you need restore a drive image in Windows 10. The most benefit is that you do not need worry about the damage of data loss if you had created a drive image before.

A drive image is an exactly copy of your entire hard drive including operating system, boot files, applications, programs, and many other data. To restore disk image in Windows 10 with AOMEI Backupper, you need prepare for it:

Download AOMEI Backupper Standard for free use.

● You need create an image of hard drive in Windows 10 with AOMEI Backupper.

Create Windows 10 recovery drive in case of your computer won’t boot.

Then, you can follow the steps below to restore drive image in Windows 10.

Step1.If you can still boot into Windows, boot it and open the freeware AOMEI Backupper. If your Windows 10 won’t boot, boot it from the recovery drive you created with AOMEI Backupper before, and you will get into the boot interface, select the recovery drive to boot from it.

Step2. Then, you will get into AOMEI Backupper main interface directly. Click Restore, and click Path to select the image file and restore data from it.

Step4. Select the drive image file to restore, or you can click Part to select a partition in the image file to restore it to original or other.

Step5. Select the destination for the disk image that you want to restore, and click Next, it will pop out a window to remind you that the existing partitions on destination drive will be overwritten or deleted, and suggest you to backup disk before executing. Click Yes to move on.

Step6.Here you can confirm the operation summary, if there is no problem, click Start Restore to do restore the drive disk image in Windows 10. When the progress reaches 100%, click Finish to exit.

● You can click “Edit partition on the destination disk” to re-partition your hard drive.

● If you are going to do a bare metal recovery, which means you are restoring an image created on different hardware to current computer, you need tick the option in front of “Enable Universal Restore” so that your computer will be able to start up after the disk restore.

● The “Align partition to optimize for SSD” is designed for solid state drive (SSD). If your destination disk is SSD, tick the option, and it will accelerate the reading and writing speed for the SSD.
