The machine (Acer Aspire T180) boots to the ERecovery Management Software, but neither the Restore to Factory Defaults nor the restore from disk image works - both fail when they start with the error message says that acer erecovery management cannot format the object drive.
Step1. Start the computer and press “ALT + F10” when its logo shows up to enter eRecovery Management Menu.
Step2. Choose the restore type you would like to use in eRecovery Management Menu and then follow the steps.
Try to restore from the recovery disks. If you do not have recovery DVDs, get a set from Acer.
I get an error when i try to recover. "Partition fail to be formatted." then it tries to restore the partition and i get "Cannot format the object drive."
To solve Acer eRecovery Management can’t format the object drive problem, first and foremost,
Note:Vista users, you have to set it to run as administrator and set compatibility to Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
Step1. Disable “D2D Recovery” in BIOS.
Step2. Open and unzip partedit32.
step3. Identify the PQservice partition by its size (there is an information box at the bottom of the partedit window). It is the small sized partition approximately 4 to 9 GB. Once made change the type of your partition into 12 or 0C (FAT32) to 07(NTFS) and save. Reboot and now you should be able to navigate inside the PQservice partition. (You will be able to see the partition.)
Step4. Search for these two files: mbrwrwin.exe and rtmbr.bin
Step5. When localized, open a command prompt in admin and enter "D:" (or whichever letter for the recovery partition) then "mbrwrwin.exe install rtmbr.bin" to install the Acer MBR.
Step6. Close the command prompt, reboot again your laptop, reactivate the D2D recovery in the bios. Now “ALT+F10” should work and run the Acer eRecovery when the laptop starts.
I have searched in google the solutions for acer erecovery cannot format the object drive and get few. I have picked up the comparatively useful ones and put them above. Besides the solutions above, luckily, there is a solution which can be applied to all the cases above; that is to make use of Acer eRecovery Management alternative – AOMEI OneKey Recovery.
AOMEI OneKey Recovery is an application developed by AOMIE Tech professional in operating system backup and restore. If you have been using it and have made system images before you have to restore to factory settings, it is a piece of cake to do restoration. Restart the machine and press “F11” or “A” (it depends on your own setting when you create the system image) to enter AOMEI OneKey Recovery environment. There, AOMEI OneKey Recovery will open automatically into main window. Just select “OneKey System Recovery” and follow the steps. Finally you are able to solve Acer eRecovery Management cannot format the object drive.
