Cloning hard drive to another disk means making an exact copy of the source disk and deploying the copy to the target disk. Usually, the partition layout will keep intact after cloning. When it comes to cloning the disk where operating system is installed, the boot partition including boot.ini, NTLDR, BCD, winload.exe and MBR will be cloned simultaneously.
AOMEI Backupper Standard, the best free disk cloning software for Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP, is embedded with the latest cloning technology and is able to clone a hard drive to another drive in a fast, secure, and easy way. It offers:
✦ HDD/SSD Clone: Support a wide range of hard drives, including HDDs, SATA SSDs, NVMe M.2 SSDs, USB flash drives, and SD cards, etc.
✦ Sector by Sector Clone: Clone every sector from the source to the destination, which requires the destination disk has at least the same capacity as the source disk. And the default “Intelligent Sector Clone” method is very useful when cloning to a smaller drive for it clones only used space on the original hard drive.
✦ SSD Alignment: Improve SSD’s performance and prolong its lifespan if you clone to an SSD.
✐ Tip: The free disk clone software AOMEI Backupper Standard only supports cloning system disk from MBR to MBR. If you want to clone system disks from GPT to GPT, MBR to GPT or GPT to MBR, you could consider upgrading to AOMEI Backupper Professional.
