Why need incremental backup hard drive?
There is no way but hard drive incremental backup software can incremental backup hard drive, but before we introduce such an incremental backup software, we should understand why need incremental backup hard drive:
1) comparing to full backup hard drive, incremental disk backup takes less backup time and produces smaller backup image files, because incremental backup backs up only changed files on the hard drive; and
2) since majority files on a disk never or rarely change, an incremental backup will take up less storage space.
Now, the incremental backup software, AOMEI Backupper, will help you finish the job. Besides, it supports to auto backup changed files and will end the complexity for restoring to an exact date with incrementals(usually, incremental backup will take longer time to perform a complete restore, because the first full backup and every incremental backup must be restored. And each incremental backup must be restored “on the top” of the backup prior to it, until the last one has been processed).
How to incremental backup hard drive with AOMEI Backupper?
AOMEI Backupper is running well with all editions of Windows including Windows XP\Vista\7\8\8.1\10 and allows you to do full backup, differential backup and incremental backup. It’s easy to operate and completely free of charge. Next, we'll show you how to do incremental disk backup with it.
Step 1: Download, install and launch AOMEI Backupper Standard Edition. Select “Disk Backup” under “Backup” tab.
Step 2: Make a full backup of the disk (here is disk 0). Name the backup job, select the destination path in “Step 2”.
Step 3: when the operation has been completed, click "Finish" to exit the interface.
Step 4: The process of full backup is completed. Under the "Home" tab, you can preview all the backups. Supposing you have added some files to disk 0, making an incremental backup for the newly added files. Please just follow the steps as follows. Click "Incremental Backup" under the "Backup" item. Then, the program will directly go to the execution page, and then the operations will be carried out automatically.
After the operation has been completed, you can preview all the versions of this backup task through Home-> Advanced-> Properties.
Then, all the image files of this backup will be listed under the "Versions" tab.
Note: Incremental backup is based on a full backup, so the first backup of your hard drive will be full backup by default.
As for restore, AOMEI Backupper can help restore to a date only with the point-in-time incremental image file so as to avoid the complexity for you.
